Mimecast Unified Email Management (UEM) is a full-featured solution offering reliable email services for companies of all sizes. Mimecast UEM clients are guaranteed 100% service availability, with monetary compensation given in the event the SLA is not met. Administrators can manage the service through a single web-based interface. End-users have the option to manage their service features directly through Outlook, by using a mobile app, or through the online portal.

Email Security

Accurate and reliable threat protection

Mimecast Email Security includes inbound and outbound filtering, checking all aspects of a message to include headers, subject, sending IP, content, and attachments. The SLA guarantees 100% anti-virus and 99% anti-spam service levels with 0.0001% spam false positives. The advanced filtering system detects malware, viruses, and phishing attempts. In addition, Mimecast Email Security offers protection against directory harvest attacks (DHA) and denial of service (DoS) attacks.

Encryption and data loss prevention (DLP)

Mimecast Email Security includes built-in data loss prevention (DLP) measures, with additional options to create custom filters and rules. Policy-based options can enforce encryption, email routing, email stationery, and other DLP controls. Mimecast offers both TLS and its own proprietary email encryption. Large attachments can be sent using a link to the hosted file. In addition, files can be stripped of metadata for added security.

Monitoring and Reporting

Mimecast Email Security users can receive daily digests of all emails on hold, which need further review to determine if they are legitimate or spam. Administrators can appreciate Mimecast's granular reporting options, which can include detailed information regarding senders, recipients, email size, traffic routes, rejection reasons, log events, email volume, bandwidth, date, time, IP, domains. In addition, custom reports can be created regarding data between specified senders and recipients.

Reports can be emailed in PDF format on a weekly or monthly schedule. Alerts can be sent as emails and/or SMS messages.

Email Continuity

Active Directory synchronization

Mimecast Email Continuity is designed with Exchange servers in mind. Active Directory synchronization ensures that user lists and other directory information is consistent in both systems. When the Exchange server is unavailable, the Mimecast Email Continuity system takes over the task of sending and receiving messages. Because Mimecast is already integrated with Outlook, most users won't even notice the downtime. When the Exchange server comes back online, synchronization occurs automatically with the Mimecast UEM system and duplicate messages are removed from user inboxes.

Mimecast Email Continuity can also be used with non-Exchange mail servers. In this case, messages are restored to the mail server using a POP connection.

Access email history and calendar information during downtime

During primary mail server downtime, email continuity users have access to up to 58 days of archived email. If your company uses Mimecast Archiving, users will have access to up to 10 years of email history. When Email Continuity is activated during server downtime, users still have access to all Mimecast Email Security features. Calendar information is available through the online portal.

Email Archiving

Secure your files

Mimecast Email Archiving is a highly secure and reliable system for email storage. A minimum of three copies of each file are kept in at least two geographically separate locations to ensure that files are never lost or corrupted. During upload, files are encrypted using SSL, and all files are protected with AES encryption within the Mimecast Archiving system.

Reliable and fast searches

Mimecast Email Archiving is designed with a parallel grid storage architecture to provide quick access to all files. Search results are generated in near real-time even when searching the entire archive. This means an email received ten years ago can be accessed just as easily as one received yesterday.

Customizable organization

Message tags allow users to assign labels to emails for easy searching and organization. Tags can be applied manually by the user, or administrators can create policies to automatically assign tags to messages that fit a certain criteria.
